Childhood of Handsome Jeffrey Dahmer
Handsome Jeffrey Dahmer was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on May 21, 1960. His parents were Lionel and Joyce Dahmer, and he had one younger brother, David. Dahmer’s parents were loving and supportive, but their marriage was tense. His father was an alcoholic who was often unemployed, and his mother suffered from depression. The family struggled financially, and they were constantly moving around.
Dahmer was a shy and introverted child, and his peers often bullied him. He found solace in books and nature and developed a strong interest in science. Dahmer was intelligent and did well in school, but he was always a bit of an outsider.
In 1978, Dahmer graduated from high school and enlisted in the Army. He was honorably discharged after two years, and he returned to Wisconsin. Dahmer enrolled in college but dropped out after one semester. He then began working at a series of odd jobs.
In 1981, Dahmer committed his first murder. He lured a 19-year-old hitchhiker named Steven Hicks to his home and bludgeoned him to death with a dumbbell. Dahmer then dismembered the body and buried the remains in his backyard.
For the next nine years, Dahmer led a relatively everyday life. He worked at a candy factory and then at a blood bank. He had a few brief relationships but nothing lasting. In 1986, Dahmer’s parents divorced, and his father moved out of state. Dahmer’s grandfather died the following year, and his grandmother moved in with him.
In 1988, Dahmer began trolling gay bars and bathhouses in search of victims. He would lure them back.

It was the early 1970s, and Jeffrey Dahmer was just a young boy. He was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on May 21, 1960, to Lionel and Joyce Dahmer. Lionel was a chemist, and Joyce was a homemaker. The family also had a younger son, David. Dahmer was a quiet child who liked to read and be alone. He was often teased by other kids and called “Dahmer the Molester” because he was a loner.
Dahmer’s parents divorced when he was eight years old, and he went to live with his father. His mother remarried, and Dahmer did not have a good relationship with his stepfather. He was a bright student, but he struggled in school and was often in trouble. He was arrested for drunkenness and disorderly conduct when he was 18.

Dahmer joined the Army after high school but was discharged after a few months because of his drinking. He then attended Ohio State University but dropped out after one semester. In 1978, he was arrested for fondling a 13-year-old boy, but he was acquitted.
Dahmer continued to work at the food factory and began drinking heavily. In 1981, he met and married a woman named Bridgette. The couple had a son, but they divorced after a few years. Dahmer continued to drink and use drugs, and he was arrested several times for disorderly conduct. In 1988, he was arrested for sexually assaulting and murdering a 32-year-old man. He was sentenced to life in prison but paroled after just 15 years.
Dahmer moved to a new apartment in Milwaukee and began murdering and dismembering young men. He kept body parts in his apartment and even cannibalized some victims. In 1991, he was arrested for drugging and sexually assaulting a 13-year-old boy, but he was released on probation.
Dahmer continued to kill, and his murders became more gruesome.
The murders
On July 22, 1991, Milwaukee police officers were dispatched to the apartment of 25-year-old Handsome Jeffrey Dahmer . There, they found a young man’s naked, dead body lying on the floor, with a blue plastic sheet draped over him. Dahmer told the officers that the man was his lover and that they had had a fight the night before. He claimed he had killed the man in self-defence and then dismembered and disposed of the body.
Dahmer’s story did not convince the officers, so they searched his apartment. In the bedroom, they found a large blue barrel containing another man’s decomposing body. In the kitchen, they found a freezer full of human flesh; in the bathroom, they found a severed head in the refrigerator.
Dahmer was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder. He later confessed to killing 17 other men and boys and committing various other crimes, such as necrophilia, cannibalism, and dismemberment.
On November 29, 1994, Dahmer was sentenced to 15 life terms in prison, with a recommendation that he never be paroled. A fellow inmate killed him in 2001.
