Social media posts claim that the Dallas Cowboys have disclosed new uniforms for their cheerleaders that feature a photo of the women wearing similar outfits from the television show “The Handmaid’s Tale.” But the National Football League team in Texas says the claim is false, and there is some editing in the image.

The team says that Twitter user Paul Leigh has edited the image as an evident satirical comment on a law that effectively bans most abortions in the state. Paul shared this image on his account on September 2, 2021, and it spread away. 

After spreading the claim online, Texas legislated a law banning abortion after six weeks, before knowing many women were pregnant.
